In addition to Sir Dandy and KunoKini, the 4th Salihara Festival’s stage for supporting music acts will also feature Homogenic and Hightime Rebellion. Through them, we can also experience a different side of our growing indie scene, incidentally led by the youths of today. Homogenic appears with their electro-pop music. Light and breezy, yet rich in exploration of various electronica sounds, we are drawn into a sea of diverse sound associations. Homogenic also tries to simplify electronica, by introducing the voice of a young girl that is light, sweet, and pleasant to the ear, all the while speaking of a youth’s world with all its complex issues.
Founded in 2002, Homogenic is a Bandung-based indie band comprised of Deena Dellyana (synthesizer/programming), Grahadea Kusuf (synthesizer/programming), and Amandia Syachridar (vocals). Let’s Talk (2010) is their newest album.
Hightime Rebellion will close the 4th Salihara Festival’s Music Stage performances with their unique brand of music, a blend of Brit pop, funk, folk, rock, and immensely danceable tunes. Although they rely on female vocals, folksy tunes driven by acoustic guitar usher us to a wide and expansive landscape, in addition to the richer and more energetic sounds found in rock music.
This Jakarta-based indie band was founded in 2007 It is composed of Rendy (vocals/piano/guitar/lyricist), Pulung (bass), Jason (guitar), and Reza (drum). They are also joined by Miyane (vocals) and Adji (guitar). Hightime Rebellion has appeared on many Indonesian music stages, including Java Rockin’Land (2011) and Beatfest (2011).
