The Second Mother tells the story of a governess named Val, who has long been in the employ of the Fanbinho family in São Paulo. She receives the visit of her daughter, whom she had entrusted to a relative. Val invites her daughter to live together in the Fabinho family house. Long-buried conflicts soon come to the fore, reflecting class tension in modern Brazilian society. What can they do to solve this problem?
