Didik Nini Thowok is one of a handful of artists keeping alive the traditions of cross-gender art forms, particularly in the field of choreography.
Since 1974, this ISI Yogyakarta graduate has worked to popularize cross-gender art forms through his prolific work as dancer and choreographer. One of his most well-known works is the extensively performed Dwimuka. At SIPFest 2018, Didik’s lecture performance will explore cross-gender roles in traditional Indonesian dance.
