EKYU is home to two Indonesian comic artists. Founded in 1998, this studio has since produced a number of comic titles, and has been involved in various comic exhibitions. Ekyu is comprised of J C Benjamin, also known as Ega, and D Arianingsih, writing under her pen-name, Oni. They are both graduates of Visual Communication Design, Indonesian Art and Design Institute of Higher Education (Sekolah Tinggi Seni Rupa dan Desain Indonesia), Bandung. At Ekyu Studio, Ega acts as lead illustrator, conceptor, and script writer, whereas Oni acts as background illustrator and is responsible for online correspondence and serves as the studio.s resident photographer. Currently, both are working as freelance comic artists. Their first work, Imaginetta, became the first comic strip to be featured in children.s tabloid Hoplaa, published periodically from 1999 to 2000. Angel Sinner (2001) is an eight-page comic strip that was included in Ngomik Yuk! Contest hosted by Animonster, and grabbed third place in this competition. In 2009, another of their work, Morte, was published by M&C Gramedia; one of the eight published as Koloni.s first wave of comics. Most recently, and by the same publisher, their work Fix-Up! The Other Chance, volume 1 was launched (2010). Volume 2 is still in progress at the time of this writing.
