Domestic Stuff is an art exhibition about the domestic sphere with all the dimensions and issues it encompasses.  The seven artists involved were selected by Mella Jaarsma and were asked to invite another artist to collaborate with them.  They are Lidyawati-Amrizal Salayan St. Parpatih, Maria Indriasari-Samuel Indratma, Sekarputri-Mufty 'Amenk' Priyanka, Ariani Darmawan-Ferdiansyah Thajib, Restu Ratnaningtyas-Agung Kurniawan, Mie Cornoedus-Setu Legi, and Melati Suryodarmo-Afrizal Malna. Through these works the artists were able to honestly respond to and critique social phenomena and express their approach to reality in a personal way.  The domestic experience of each artist will be seen in this exhibit as it relates to broader issues such as the environment, identity, history, and so forth; and also the constellation of various private matters which interface with developments in the public realm.

The curator of this exhibition is Mella Jaarsma, a Dutch born artist and curator who lives in Yogyakarta. Her works have been exhibited at the Singapore Art Museum, Singapore, and the Third Asia Pacific Triennale, Brisbane, Australia, among others.  Together with Nindityo Adipurnomo she received The John D. Rockefeller 3rd Award (2006), and the Anugerah Seni from ISI Yogyakarta (2008).
