This year, Salihara’s Creative Thinking and Writing Program offers two classes:
Saturday Class (Writing a Short Story) provides participants with the basics of creative attitudes. Participants will be guided through tips on how to approach and cultivate ideas during creative droughts. Some simple and basic tips like Empat Pola Pikir (Four Thinking Patterns), Empat Model Makna (Four Models of Meaning), and Cilukba (Peekaboo) can be applied to different kinds of short form texts: mini stories, short stories, poetry, presentations, or informative texts. This course is suitable for beginners and those who wish to provide more structure to their creative processes.
Sunday Class (Writing a Long Story) trains participants in ways to approach long form works (novels or books). Participants will learn to build structure and plot, expand several sections of their work, choose a suitable language, conduct research, and give more weight to their work. We learn tips such as Lima Mekanisme Pikir (Five Thinking Mechanisms), Kunci 3 T (The 3 Ts), Langkah 1-2-3 (Steps 1-2-3). This course is suitable for those who wish to become authors, and especially those who are in the middle of preparing their own piece.
